Hi!

I use Sify as ISP and I am facing a strange problem for the last few days. Most
of the times I am not able to browse the Internet through Ubuntu or any other
GNU/Linux distros. While when I log into my 'dismissed' Windows machine
everything runs smooth. My Ubuntu is fully Updated while Fedora 9 is a fresh
install, along with Mandriva, Debian and OpenSUSE. There may not be anything
wrong with my machine as I tried another laptop on the same connection.

1. But at times I can browse the Internet on Linux.
2. When I am in black-out zone, I can still open Microsoft, Download.com and
Cnet cites but not others
3. During block-out time while there is no browsing my chat programmes work
well, as well as I can download stuff through Bittorrent clients.

I am already using Open DNS and there is no proxy.
Telnet also shows port 80 is open.

Now, what could be the problem. I am looking forward to suggestions as in my
area Sify is the only provider and I don't want to return to Windows at any
cost.

Thanks in advance...
Swapnil
