After defining 'single' at the last of kernal line, coming across kernal panic
error. Pl guide what could be the problem...? thanks

At grub prompt hit "e" on your keyboard, highlight and edit the line
that starts with "kernel....." and at the end append the word "single
"
Now boot and you will be in root prompt. Change password.
