*its a nice bang,,
my 2 cents,,

Tentative course content list:

History(cover everything), some videos also
Open Source terminology
Importance of Open Source for student/professionals/industry
Linux file system
Shell
vi editor
---------this much intense is not needed,, better you make 2-3 days intense
classes on alternative open source software like firefox, OOo3 etc... let
play them with a compiz desktop with all utility and have a open
discussion,, like what you need,,, for example,, if some one says,, it is
hard to 'right click and open a link in new tab in firefox",,then you can
say,, just middle mouse click on link,,... geting hands dirty with Desktop
rather then History is better and will boost up their confidance,,,, My
roommate do not history but he use Linux,,,
in nutshelll my concern is with "productivity,,,"
---and
why to tell the vi,,,
Better tell about ecplise or NetBeans IDE and show them to
* How to code,,
* how to compile
* how much it will be useful like pressing F3 will save your huge time ,,
* how you can use svn or git inside them

C Programming using gcc
Python programming
Qt Programming (maybe PyQt)
IRC basics + online communication (soft skills)
SVN or Git(not decided yet)
*GIT my dear,,,*
Wiki
yes,,mediawiki,or drupal,, or anyother,, bettter if you(student) can show
that with in 20 minute they can also install mediawiki or drupal ,,,on
localhost,, it will make open their eye, that oh,,,, it was a black box for
me but now it is so simple,,,,

Software packaging (if possible)

sure,,, hello world code --> helloworld.i386.fc10.rpm -- > createrepo to
make a local repo --> yum install helloworld
so,, dear,,, it will make them happy... (at least me )

Thanks for such idea,,for such long (15 days) workshops,, hope we will see
