ASUS also bundles a similar package (oem'd) in it's desktop mother boards. Offhand don't recall the mobo series or the oem vendor. The user has the option to boot a mini OS (Linux firefox) or the full blown OS from your hard disk. > sounds like a great idea. the easiest way to handle a migration from > windows to gnu/linux for technophobic people. > plus, it comes pre-installed. all legit and authorized. Not clear how this is different from the netbooks (close to full desktop functionality on 4GB flash card) put out by ASUS and the likes. > > http://www.thinkgos.com/press-release20081201.php > this must be microsoft's worse possible fear, > something that almost a decade ago, > netscape had envisioned. Nah, these units still ship with Win XP/Vista for the "full blown" OS. In the 2nd gen netbooks, hw upgrades (2GB RAM, 120HD etc.) are available only with the XP versions. The Linux versions come with 4GB SSD and 512MB RAM. -- Arun Khan _______________________________________________ ilugd mailinglist -- [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
