Pidgin implements already known protocols - info about those protocols
should be available elsewhere. 

If you are looking for documentation on the development process, code
condtribution, that info is contained in the commit logs of version
control systems, issue / bug tracking systems (our means of "customer
support"), and yes, the -devel mailing lists.
