I have dabbled with GRASS, and QGIS, but only a while ago,
and to a very limited extent. Nowadays, I am happier with
the web interface provided through GeoDjango, but that is
mostly for developer needs, rather than the end-user needs
catered to by GRASS and QGIS.

What introduction to you need? Both GRASS, and QGIS seemed
to have decent documentation. I would suggest just jumping
into a problem that you wish to address.

Could you give us some more details about what you are working
on? We are also doing some GPS/GIS stuff, and there are also
people here with interests in projects like OpenStreetMap.
Maybe we should get together for a meeting.

Regards,
Gora
