Hello all,

I am forwarding this mail which I got from Stian, hope it might be of
interest to some-one.

Dear friends of P2PU!

We are very excited to share some good news. Last week at the Open Ed
conference in Vancouver, we launched the Peer 2 Peer University pilot
phase and opened sign-up to our first set of free and open online
courses:

* Behavioral Economics and Decision Making (Neeru Paharia)
* Copyright for Educators (Andrew Rens, Hauwa Otori)
* Introduction to Cyberpunk Literature (Bekka Kahn)
* Land Restoration and Afforestation (Alison Cole, SongAnh Nguyen)
* Neuroethics and International Biolaw (Ana Rosa TenĂ³rio de Amorim)
* Open Creative Nonfiction Writing (Jane Park)
* Poker and Strategic Thinking (Niels Sprong)

Please have a look at our new site (http://www.p2pu.org), consider
joining one of the courses, and help us spread the word. We are
looking for our first batch of self-learners. Sign-up closes on 26
August 2009!

P2PU is hacking together all the things a university does with
volunteers and social software so education can be free. There is an
abundance of educational material currently online that self-learners
can take advantage of, however there is no social infrastructure to
support that learning. P2PU is trying to solve that problem by
organizing learners into learning groups, with meeting times,
assignments, and assessment.

We would like to thank our advisory group for their input and
guidance, and the Hewlett and Shuttleworth foundations who provided
seed funding for the project.

Hooray - we are underway! Best regards,

The P2PU Team (http://www.p2pu.org/Team)
