Qualifications and experience
Essential
The incumbent must have:
A Masters university degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering or related subject,

or equivalent experience
At least five years professional experience in System Development of
largescale Linux/Unix
•
environments
At least five years of in depth working knowledge of TCP/IP and
network protocols
•
At least five years programming experience in C and Perl/Ruby/Python
•
Proven good conceptual understanding and technical knowledge of
current and emerging
•
trends in an open source environment
Proven strong communication skills in English orally and written
•
Desirable qualifications
Be a chartered member of a professional institution
•
International experience as Unix system developer, particular in
European and/or US IT-
•
companies
Main Accountabilities
Mentoring
Acts as a mentor, coach, role model and a level of standard for
future staff in India.
He/she will mentor and coach other members of the indian staff, both
on same level of reporting and
subordinate level of reporting, contributing to the creation of a
centre of excellence in India.
Architecture and Design
Prepares the technical design of the technology components within
the module (one or more of cli-
ent/web presentation tier, several tier, data access and data model,
integration componemt, package
function customisation).
Participates in design reviews of other modules and provide
insightful comments to improve the de-
sign quality and and design conformance to standards.
Implements slice of application and proof of concept to prove any
new technologies or interaction
scenarios in the module.
For package implementation, aids the architects of the project to
perform gap analysis between busi-
ness requirements and the package features and designs the
configuration, customisations, exten-
sions and interfaces required to meet the requirements.
Provides innovative solutions to technical issues during the project
that could impact one or more
modules in the project.
Development
Hands-on implementation of the module components based on
scalability, high availability, high per-
formance and industry best practices.
These components could be custom built, or built using a third party
tool and could also involve ex-
tending an industry package.
Works with, helps and directs other team members to resolve
technical issues that require deep
technical expertise in core technology platforms and packages.
Project Management
Lead and participate in project management for Unix development
projects, contributing to feasibility
studies, systems analysis, design, development and implementation of
systems.
Participate as team member in a variety of international
infrastructure related projects.
Ensure that agreed deadlines are respected.
Stakeholder management
Develop innovative forms of service and new ways in which services
can be provided to customers
and stakeholders.
Coordinate with technical experts and Unix architects in designing
Unix solutions for new pro-

jects.
Prepare factually supported technical recommendations and defend
these with stakeholders.

Work with Unix analysts to design new solutions and take advantage
of available and emer-
•
gent technologies.
Coordinate with European based head office personnel in
investigating the security related
•
aspects of possible Unix solutions.
Knowledge Management
Perform technical research using the internet and other technical
documentation to gather informa-
tion on various Unix products and trends.
Conduct studies to determine the feasibility and desirability of
implementing emerging technologies to
support the head office requirements.
Assist the country Manager and Head, System Administration in
developing and promulgating Unix
Management policy, standards and procedures based on international
best practices.
Expertise development
Promote and ensure the adherence to corporate standards, and assist
in the development of new
corporate standards in the field of Unix System Administration and
Unix System Development.
Planning, Tracking and Estimation
Estimates the implementation and the deployment of the modules based
on design architecture,
Testing strategy and overall plan.
Reports progress and issues to the manager in a timely manner.
In particular to relay issues that might impact on quality of the
ability to deliver on timescales or esti-
mates.
Documentation
Documents the technical design using suitable design patterns in the
form of technical design narra-
tive, object models, sequence diagrams.
Test and production release
Prepares and contributes to the development, publication and
implementation of test plans and test
cases throughout the full lifecycle of the software, in
collaboration with the test and production teams
located in Denmark and Dubai.
Prepares and contributes to the planning and implementation of test
release, production release and
rollback of releases in collaboration with the test and production
teams located in Denmark and Du-
bai.
Quality assurance
Prepares and contributes to the development, publication and
implementation of quality assurance
standards in collaboration with staff located in Denmark and Dubai.
The incumbent will ensure that software quality best practice are
utilised in the QA process and de-
velop and report on software quality measures in order to determine
deployment readiness.
Interaction
Interacts with other senior developers and architects to create
technology specifications from busi-
ness requirements for one or more modules within the project.
Collaborates with developers to design, build, test and deploy the
module components and integrate
with the rest of the modules.
Raises and drive to closure any technical design and implementation
issues in the module and also in
the interfaces and interactions with other modules.
Other Duties
Perform any other related duty as assigned.
Interrelationships
The imcumbent will report to the Country Manager India. He/she will
work closely with Head office
Project Managers and will coordinate with other members of the
Indian staff, Middel East staff and
European staff.
He/she will liase closely with the System Development Teams based in
Denmark.
He/she will mentor and coach other members of the Indian staff.

The successfull applicant will be offered an indefinite duration
contract following a probation period.
The successfull applicant must be willing to relocate to Delhi/
Gurgaon/NCR region.
The successfull applicant must be willing to undergo corporate
training at the European head office in
Denmark for a period of 3-6 months upon intial secondment.
Appointment will be subject to a clear security and background
screening performed by a third party
agency and subsequent approval by the Corporate Executive Management.
