Hi all,

I have a NC10 netbook running FC12 that stopped booting correctly after a grub update. On system startup it drops to the grub> prompt. At
this prompt, simply typing

configfile /grub/grub.conf

causes it to bring up the menu correctly and everything continues normally from there.

The version is Grub 0.97, I imagine it has many fedora hacks.

The system has only one hard disk, which is identified by the device map as (hd0), and the grub/boot ext3 partition is the first on the disk. It is marked bootable. It is identified by linux as /dev/sda1. The rest of the system is in a bunch of lvm volumes in a single vg in / dev/sda2. This isn't a multi-OS machine and there are no other partitions.

Things I've tried:

1) grub-install from root prompt:

grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/sda

and

grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/sda1

2) installing directly from the grub> prompt:

root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)

Still no luck. Any help appreciated!

-Taj.
