Hi vivek, If you have the disk with you goto the "linux rescue" environment and try " mount -n -o remount,rw / ". This will remount your system in read write mode. And you can fix the broken system using the command "sudo dpkg --configure -a" and "sudo update-grub". This is problem is with mostly with Ubuntu users who try to upgrade their systems but machine fails to boot after upgradations.
