Hi vivek,

If you have the disk with you goto the "linux rescue" environment and
try " mount
-n -o remount,rw / ". This will remount your system in read write mode. And
you can fix the broken system using the command "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
and "sudo update-grub". This is problem is with mostly with Ubuntu users who
try to upgrade their systems but machine fails to boot after upgradations.

So try these commands and let us know if that works.....good luck...:)
