I also prefer Debian (testing) purely due to it being kind of first
rolling release distribution, Debian's social contract
<http://www.debian.org/social_contract> and stability inspired me to use
Debian.

However, I recommend LinuxMint XFCE or ATE <http://www.linuxmint.com/>
for the beginners.

OTOH, I found <http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/> can be helpful and,
or useful in choosing a Linux distribution, though it may not be up-to-date.
