Hello and thank you for contacting us at Microsoft.com regarding the website
you reported.

  * This is an unfortunate hoax where someone has used a "feature" of http
addressing (not specific to any product, but to the internet) to redirect
users to a third-party site.  Microsoft's sites have not been compromised or
spoofed in any way.

* Basically, if you look at the address, you will see www.microsoft.com
followed by the & sign, a string of random text (this could be anything and
then the @ sign with a complete url (212.254.206.213/1338825GHU_98.asp)
after it.  This actually takes the person to another site, not MS, where
they have built some spoofed content.  If you go to
212.254.206.213/1338825GHU_98.asp, you will get the same result.

* Putting any site in this URL will yield the same result.  For instance, if
you go to  http://www.sun.com&[EMAIL PROTECTED] you will
getredirected to Microsoft.com, not Sun.

* Microsoft's sites are available, this hoax is simply an attempt to
redirect customers to some offensive content.  The best way to be sure you
are getting to Microsoft.com is to make sure you are using ONLY the URL that
you need to reach any of our sites.

Should yopu have any other concerns, please feel free to write us back.

Sincerely,

Grace A
