hi,
use
su -l <username>
this would load all the environment variables for the user
if u simply use su <username> then u would be getting only the
profile of the username u have logged in with.

Here i'm not working on sun solaris specificly.
I'm working in oracle and our orcale server in on
sun solaris machine so sometimes i have to work.
I dont know much abt solaris but i've good experience on
unix and linux.
one person here used $su -u user_name
then i asked him that why u use -u
according to me we can do anything
if we use $su - username
he said no.
after that i'm very excited to know about switch -u.
