This friend is buying the computer from Nehru Place. He is practically computer
illiterate, and he needs a P4 1.7 GHz. to surf the 'Net, do some word processing, etc.
Don't ask.
The CD-RW drive apparently writes CD-R's at 20X -- I think there's
something wrong with the specs, because most vendors give CD-RW's
writing CD-R's at 24X.
His budget is maximum Rs. 63,000 - Rs. 65,000. It's already been
satiated, so I doubt he will consider any upgrades to this
configuration. I suggested to him to reduce the processor speed to
around 1.3-1.4 GHz., but he is convinced that it needs to be 1.6GHz
upwards. He also argued with me about whether he should get a 15"
monitor or 17" monitor, his argument being that he didn't need a 17".
I hope this makes the whole situation a bit clearer.
