thanks to you, the sound problem got sorted out.
you were right, it was artsd that was creating all the problems.
i switched to oss under xmms, but the problem persisted, so realized arts is
playing jealous mother.
read thru the fine manual of arts, discovered all i had to do was disable it
in the control centre, and everything started coming back to normal, but
still not where i wanted it to be.
finally, fine tuned the controls of sound:bass, treble, equalizer, gains,
etc, of the sound mixer, and at last got my sound.
whew! what a relief.
by the way, if anyone's curious or interested, do go thru arts (the analog
real time synthezier). its sitting in the k menu, under multimedia. quite an
amazing software and project. am already trying to imagine what's possible
with it.
anyone played around with it? any musicians/sound engineers on the ilug delhi?
