hi sandip

i'm using cyberoam 24online client on linux full time,i.e. my system
remains connected 24 hours a day whether someone is logged in or not
(unlike windows where every user has start the client once he/she is
logged in :) )

i just downloaded the 24online client from the net and analyzed the way
it worked, then thru expect scripts supplied it a password. that way
when a user logs in he has to open a terminal window and start the
client. however that is a pain, as most of the time no one is using the
system - and i need the system to remain 24 hours connected (just to
execute few scripts on my hosting server every few minutes (to be
precise :) i've a script running on my hosting provider server which
checks my email and if there is any, it sends me an sms :D )

so i'm using tcpserver (svscan) to run the process in the background.
even if for some reason the connection breaks, it reconnects
automatically, and logs are generated on a regular basis.

for me, it is much better than windows, as you don't have to login
everytime to connect, and if the connection breaks it automatically
reconnects. the only downside is that you can't send the administrator a
message as you can in the windows client. though you can receive a
message from the admin, it'll be stored in the logs and obviously not
displayed on the machine, so you'll need to check the logs for any
message from the admin (ya, you can analyze the logs on a regular basis
thru a perl script and send you an email or whatever if there's any
message, but i'm not interested right now in that).

if you want, i can send you the simple scripts that i've with me, and
the settings i've done for the tcpserver, or any other details you want.
i'm using mandrake 8.2.
