Talking about console level access there is almost no way one would like
to block people. The inability to reset a Win@K password using only
Win@K is considered more of an inconvenience than a security feature.
BTW I have actually reset the password using the "NT Password Recovery
CD"(The exact google search string) in Win@K system though not an XP.
There was a recent mail at one of the security groups on how this change
in the SAM database can be avoided by using ALT + Characters.Which this
recovery CD is unable to detect properly.
Anyway consider that a III party feature not a flaw.
In Linux this feature is natively supported.
On LILO prompt type linux single.(That's the default behaviour which can
be changed). But then there can be a boot floppy.
