I use metaproducts download express under windows
for all my downloads. It is free, small and it does the work for me ;) I have
used it to download iso images of red hat and mandrake linux in past. check out
www.metaproducts.com This is a 200kb
download.
I have also used flashget to do iso and other
downloads, and no problems. Flashget installs some adware dlls, which can be
spyware too, so be warned about that.
In my experience, many download accelerators
tend to download garbage in multisegment download modes when downloading files
larger than 100mb. Download express and FlashGet don't seem to do this. In fact
I have had problems with the big brother of download express, Mass Downloader.
One good feature of download express is that you can set it up to download in as
many threads you want. I have used upto 30 threads when downloading using fat
pipes with good results. Remember to choose a mirror that gives you fast
downloads.
Another option that you have is to ask some1 on the
list for the cds. I suppose there is a whole list dedicated to this
nowadays.
