hi arjun i'd recommend yu try out Mandrake instead of RedHat. Mandrake is more aimed towards a desktop user who wants to surf the internet, play games, watch videos, listen to audio and more, and also handles the server part pretty well too. as far as the pcq linux is concerned, i don't think it is at all suited for a newbie. they might have made great changes and added great things, but they lack in giving a newbie what is required most - a good desktop that is pleazure to the eyes, and one which just works. i've seen it working, and i'd never ever recommend it to anyone. what's more, mandrake 9.1 is coming shortly (mandrake 9.1 RC2 has been released), with gnome 2.2 desktop and updated drakconf tool with galaxy theme, and let me tell yu, its awesome. drakconf is a great tool to configure your system (specially hardware). once yu get a hang of it, and work on it for about 2 weeks or so full-time, then when yu'll go back to your windows machine, you'll say - oh no! i just can't surf in IE, or, why the hell does my yahoo/msn open so many chat windows!
