for those of you who just can't leave the windows look and feel and usability, there is some good news. the XPde desktop environment, as they say, closely resembles windows at the pixel level. at around 9.5 MB download, it can make you feel that you are running windows 2000/XP (XP with classic theme or whatever you call it, which looks as Win2k) with the start menu, display settings, notepad, explorer, calculator etc. the graphical theme is kde's crystal (by evaraldo), though you don't need kde installed,
i've downloaded it and have tested it on mandrake 9.0, and though not very usable (most of the links don't work), it does show the future of things to come. maybe, pops moms and joe sixpacks will love to work on this, obviously after it has matured enough. get more info from the following URLs Screenshots http://www.exain.net/vike/shots/ http://www.xpde.com/modules.php?name=Screenshots Downloads http://www.xpde.com/modules.php?name=Downloads http://www.xpde.com/dist2/xpde-0.3.0-20030315.tar.gz Website http://www.xpde.com -- \|||/ (o o) --------------------------------ooO-----(_)-Ooo- | vivek | GPG Key: | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://exain.net/vike | |------------------------------------------------| | Registered Linux User: #305493 | ------------------------------------------------ ( _ ) _| | | |_ (___| |___) ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
