Ok, I have added a new harddisk to the Linux machine. And i have mounted this
new HardDisk (hdb1) to "/data". Now want to change the DocumentRoot to this
"/data". Changed the DocumentRoot to "/data" in the httpd.conf file. Tried to
restart the httpd. It shows error saying "DocumentRoot should be a Directory".
Is there any way for me to change the document root to this mouted partition.

am i missing something here? DocumentRoot is /home or /home1 ? and
where is hdb1 mounted?
Also, I hope you changed <Directory /var/www/> .
FWIW why not call it /data, /home is kinda confusing for this, IMHO.
(please use mod_userdir.c and ~/public_html/ if you're actually trying
to provide users with web space)
