Have you enabled Frame Buffer in the kernel and booted the system with
proper kernel command-line ? If you have enabled the framebuffer in
the kernel, you need to pass vga parameter in the kernel command-line.
Say, to enable 1024x768, 16bpp frame buffer, you need to pass
"vga=791" as kernel command line.
