[TwinCLinG] vi editor - forward slash substitution

Hi friends,

   I have normal '.txt' file in fedora core4. This file containts 
many backward slashes(\). I have change this to forward slashes(/);

How can I change this in vi editor. I trid with

:1,$s/\///g

But it is notworking.
