Hi,
I got some wierd problem while installing Linux on my machine. Hope any
one could solve that. Yesterday when I was trying to install Open SUSE 10.2 on
my system it gave several errors and failed RPMs. For example
Installation of package iptables..rpm failed
Subprocess failed .Error:RPM failed.
Then it gave three options whether to 1Retry 2. Ignore
3. Abort. After retrying several times when I pressed Ignore and proceed again
it stopped at some other rpm and it gave another failed rpm error. This went on
several times (around 30 to 40 times) after which I got vexed and rebooted the
system. I even tried the recovery system but could'nt proceed further. I tried
repeating the installation with different dvd's (all new ones) of same flavour
but not even one worked perfectly. Each dvd has its own failed rpm's. Another
interesting thing was just one day back I installed Linux with the same dvd on
my friend's pc it was fine there. Hope any one could get me solution or reason
for this problem.

4. Installation of package gnome -filesystem-0.1-288.i586.rpm failed

package already installed.
This went on for so many rpms. The
errors were repeating but went on and on.
