It seems ur configuration is not correct. follow
the following steps
1)Open /etc/resolv.conf and check primary and
secondary name servers it should be like this
nameserver xx.xx.xx.xx
nameserver xx.xx.xx.xx
2) If its there then check IP configuration using
ifconfig and ping to gateway address
Hope ur problem is solved
