Dear Rocio:

Your message was a surprise to me, because that problem I had many years
ago, using ILWIS 1.2 and thought it was already solved in ILWIS. My
believe was that ILWIS automatically reads the elevation from the DXF as
an attribute and then you could use directly that attribute to
interpolate the DEM. As that is not possible (if I am wrong, somebody
please clarify...) then I can give you two ways to do what you want:

1) Ask a programmer to write a simple task over the DXF (can be done in
Auto Lisp, in Visual Basic or virtually in any language) the main task
is to convert all the elevation values into Layer names, in order to
make ILWIS recognize the layer names as elevation values. I know this
looks odd, but that is exactly what you need to do. In the past I use to
have that program, but I have lost it because am not doing that kind of
conversion anymore.

2) As an alternative, much more tedious an time consuming (depending on
how much you will have to do it), is to create a layer in AutoCAD for
each of the values you have as contour elevation, check the elevation
attributes of each contour line in your map, and manually changing the
layer of all the entities to the corresponding layer (with the elevation
as a name). The problem is that you will have to do that manually, and
one by one.

Good luck!

Reinaldo
