Hi Stefano:

I do not know the answer to questions 1 and 2, but regarding question 3, I think
I can help, nevertheless I would like to know the opinion of ILWIS staff...

Since the very beginning (version 1.1) ILWIS have had troubles when importing
vectors from AutoCAD. Specially two items where critical:

1) Vectors with shapes generated with other resources than simply a "line" or
"polyline" i.e. "circle" "arc" etc. not to mention "donought" "3dface" or any
other involving "z" coordinates, which is directly connected with the following
item bellow.

2) For ILWIS to "see" the coordinates, it needs to have each entity (no matter
if it is a point or a line, I do not know if it recognize blocks) located in a
different layer, while the layer "name" is the 'z' coordinate. So if you have
100 points in 100 different hights you need to edit your DWG (manually or with
programming) in order to create the 100 different layers and move your 100
points to the corresponding layers. Then you should export the entire drawing to
DXF (do not forget to export with the header that keeps all layers definitions,
drawing settings and limits) preferable using version 12 of AutoCAD, and then,
ILWIS will recognize the layer name as the "z" attribute.

For points there should be probably a simpler way to do that involving tables,
but I am a old ILWIS user, and as far as I know, the "formula" I give is the
only way to export contour lines from AutoCAD into ILWIS.

Best regards,

Reinaldo
