Dear ILWIS list member:

In May 2002, after one year of hard work, ILWIS 3.1 Academic has been released.
Next to several improvements in the software as well as in the Online help,ILWIS 3.1
contains important new functionality such as:

 - Creating stereo pairs from two aerial photographs:
. Viewing the stereo pair with a stereoscope mounted onto the monitor.
. When using black and white photographs, the stereo pair can be viewed as an
anaglyph.
 - Pyramid layers for raster maps, to increase display speed.
 - The Classify operation has been extended with a prior probability option.
 - When writing applications on top of ILWIS: all expressions that are available on
the ILWIS command line of the Main Window, are now also available to use ILWIS as a
COM server.
 - Access to external databases through OLE DB.
 - In a Map Window, multiple raster and polygon maps can now be displayed on top of
each other using transparency.
 - Graphs have become separate objects. A Graph Object can be shown in a Graph Window,
and can be stored on disk.
