Dear All,

I need to convert land cover information on a pixel basis to land use labels.  In my study, I would like to operate a neighbourhood operation using nominal filter, by which the central pixels will be transformed to new labels based on the existence of (and the association with) its neighbouring pixels.  The input map is classified multispectral image (land cover map), and the expected output is a new map with land use labels.

A majority filter cannot be used in this case, since the new land use label must be determined by the presence of all pixels of land cover labels within the kernel.  A knowledge-based rule is needed to control the process.

Is there anyone of you can suggest what kind of functionalities within ILWIS software should be used?

Thank you,
