All,

Last Monday, the ilwis-list was hit by a 'Worm Klez.E immunity' message.
This message is normally a virus in disguise, but the version that made
it to the last was already disinfected, the virus components were
removed.

The message itself appeared to be from 'Cees van Westen' but, again as a
result of the virus, he is not the real sender. The virus is capable of
changing the from address.

Normally it would be very hard for a virus to make it to this list since
only members can post messages, but in this case the sender has both the
ilwis-list and Cees van Westen in his/her address book. The virus
constructed this message which matches the criteria to post it to the
list; a big coincidence.
When these messages flow through our mail servers and listserver, it is
checked for viruses at least 3 times before it eventually arrives in
your mailbox.

Hopefully this explanation will make you feel confident that ilwis-list
messages are 'clean'. If you should get messages like the 'Worm Klez.E
immunity' from the list you can safely ignore and delete it.

If you still have questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

(More information about the Klez virus and how to remove it can be found
