Well, Emily, if you promise to do your impromptu
showtune at the next fez show then I KNOW that
my airfare was worth every penny and more.
Who knows, I may join you.  Les Mis anyone?

But seriously, you are so right about that feeling of
an 'intimate kinship' with IM and people who 'get'
them.  I had been listening to them for a couple
of years before I went to their show in Denver
in 1995 (?).  They opened the set with "Surreal"
and that was exactly how it felt to be in a room with
these people who knew and loved this music that
was more than just music to me... and then actually
talking to Karen with my eyes still attractively swollen 
from my exuberant weeping during Umbrella.  What an 
emotional experience... goodness!

Anyway, I for one love your rambling, you breathe
life into this otherwise quiet ("am i still shy?") list...
