Hello All-
First- Tickets for the IM Christmas Concert at the Fez are now available via Ticketweb
($15 plus service charge). I have rearranged some travel plans so that I can make it,
which will mean 2 IM shows within 6 weeks- a near miraculous thing for someone who
lives in the West Coast!
Second- The Chameleon Club 11/1 show was my first IM concert. Some of you may have
had this experience, but to get to see the band perform these songs after in some
cases listening to them for years seemed just surreal. "Oh yeah- that's the voice on
those CDs. Oh yeah- that's the guitar I remember." I had doubted I might ever get to
see the IM and wow- I was able to do it. It was fantastic.
I met up with some people from the Yahoo group outside and met some other people and
it was great to do that. I also had the pleasure of being able to chat with the band
while I was there, and it was a real kick. All those conclusions you might get about
the IM from listening to their music and maybe reading an interview or two- that they
seem like nice, genuine, gracious and grounded people- are completely accurate. We
had more evidence with the IM that they didn't just talk the talk without walking the
walk- how many other bands would put out a 10 track CD and give the profits to some
charities- when they hadn't put out a CD themselves for a few years? It seems like
most in the music world would tend to do that only after they've had a mega platinum
seller of their own "Now I've got mine- I'll do something for the little people now."
Not our friends in Lancaster.
Anyway- I don't want to preach to the choir too much about what you already know- but
let's just say I got more and more confirmation that this is a great group of people
that we give our attention to, besides being excellant musicians.
Anyway- the temperature in Lancaster was in the 70s for the 4 days I was there- and it
was a brisk 35 degrees when I returned to Seattle!
Oh- finally- a word to the West Coasters and other Seattlites hoping the IM will
perform here. When I was speaking to Karen and Don, I told them (in obviously
exaggerated fashion but they "got it") that my flight to PA was the smoothest I'd ever
had, and I'd seen all kinds of families with young children on the plane and heard all
the kids say "Thank you Mom and Dad! Travel broadens us!" at the end of the flight.
They laughed and said they do want to make it out to Seattle. They have some good
memories of playing some shows here and they also apparentally recorded part of "Glow"
here. So- we'll keep our fingers crossed that whenever a West Coast tour happens,
we're included!
OK- over and out!
Bob
