An elderly lady that I know has a iMacDV SE that won't dial at all. The
Modem sound is on and the volume is turned up. I checked the phone line and
it's fine. I also checked the modem wire from the computer to the jack and
it's fine. When I go to Remote Access to connect, it just says connecting
and nothing more until it times out and give an error that the modem isn't
responding. She's been off-line for about a month, she dropped AOL when
they went up, but left it plugged in and we've had alot of storms. I had it
plugged into a surge suppressor before but she changed the room around and
wired it straight to the jack.

The Apple help says to check the Modem with a "Terminal Emulation" program.
What the heck is that? I've never had a minutes Modem trouble in the 6
years I've been using Macs, so I have no idea how to test it. Is there a
program I can download and load into her computer to check it? Any info
would greatly appreciated!
Craig
