Well... sooner or later. Who'd pay $500 for a 500 MHz G4 daughter card when
you can buy a whole new Sonnet motherboard with a G3 500 and firewire for
$300.

They'll (PowerLogix) have to cut that G4 500 iforce card to $200 or less if
they expect anyone to buy it. The G4 is of dubious value for most
applications aside from Photoshop 6 and a handful of others which take
advantage of Altivec anyway.

It'll certainly be more important as the years go by however, especially
with OSX. OTOH, Apple's decision to stick with the G3 in the new imacs and
ibooks would seem to suggest that it will be quite a while before most
people "need" a G4.

Anyway, what's the point of spending so much to upgrade the processor on a
machine that has a non-upgradable graphicscard/video memory system. 6MB is
as far as it goes. I'm sure that sonnet's press releases would mention any
possibilty of upgrading the video on Rev. A-D imacs if that were part of
their new board. I'm very interested in hearing definitively what its video
capabilities are and whether or not it has the mezz. slot for a video card.
