Just reply to a post on the iBook list, and tought I should tell you
this story too...
It was about were one should give it's money too...Mail order or brick
and mortar store, when buying a computer...Here it is:

Me too, I prefer doing business in a real store for a computer...let me
tell you my own story....
I own a bike shop, in a remote little city of Quebec province...
One of my clients, is the local computer store owner...in principle, he
sells only clones, Toshiba portables, and custom built Wintel machines...

Once, he came into my shop, and I told him: "Jean-Luc, I want one of
these new iMac that Apple just introduce; I was in the Wintel world by
then, but was quite fed up to be unable to control my own machine, even
if nothing was wrong with it, (hardware speaking).

He answer" "No, no Paul...will buid you up a custom fantastic machine,
just for you!
I reply that no, just want a new iMac, that's all...

He finally admit that he did sell some Apple computers once in a while,
to teachers, printers, and maniacs...but he said, and I quote:"I sell
them those machines, then I never see them anymore!" End of citation !

A true story...
He did order my new iMac, in fact, he order two, just in case that one
could be a lemon, and return the other one from where he bought it!!
I even repeated that scheme just recently, when I bought him my new iMac
graphite 466 Cd Burner...

My new girlfriend computer just came back from the computer store
again...all her Wintel machine configuration were tangles; she tought
she might also had a virus of some sort, she had to pay the guy just to
reorganize her Winblows machine again!

Now, her ex-boyfriend install her Windows NT at the place of Windows
ME...she's hoping that this is the end of her problems...I dunno about
that NT, but my feeling, just after spending an evening close by her,
trying to open stuff who would'nt open, reinstalling programs that
didn't want to install properly, and trying to erase completely stuff
that didn't want to be erase was kind of...funny!
Was oblige to bite my tong often to don't say to her again," why you
don't buy an iMac"?
