I don't know about the 12x drive, but the 16x drive by EZ quest got 3 1/2
mice in this month's macworld. Not a bad rating. Kinda in the middle. It was
slower than the others. The ClubMac and LaCie models were rated higher
(although I've heard bad things about the CDs that ship with LaCie models,
the drives themselves are great). The MadLogix and QPS models also got 3 1/2
stars, but were cheaper then the EZ Quest.\, and the QPS was the fastest
burner. Though the EZ quest was the slowest to burn CD-Rs, it was the fastest
to burn CD-RWs (tied with the clubmac model) and it was also the fastest (and
again tied by the clubmac model) for installing. But since the clubmac model
is only $1 more according to macworld, you may want to look at that. It isn't
as eye-catching, though.
