Exactly... items only show up in the Extensions Manager that have
certain types resource files in them. Two things can cause an item to
not show up; it's not truly an extension (folders, resources, other
things that don't have INITs), or the item has been intentionally
coded not to allow a user to disable it.
If it doesn't show up in the Extensions Manager, it's best to leave
it alone unless you know exactly what it is needed for. In the old
days, all you needed to start up was a System and a Finder... but
now, there are a couple of extensions that, if missing can cause
either a flashing ? or an error during boot.
