I purchased an Epson 740i with my first iMAC DV a couple of years ago and had lots of trouble with it. Cartridges for Epson are cheaper than HP but they hold much less. I ended up purchasing an HP P1000 Photosmart printer six months ago and have been very happy with it. My wife is doing a family geneology, restoring old scan photos, and everything prints very well, including photo paper. The HP cartridges come in two sizes, the larger B&W cartridge lasts and lasts. Cost for cartridges at Cosco is about $40 for two. Color is about the same. There are a bunch of newer Epson printers than the one I purchased, but once burnt ... Cheers, Michael Fletcher

I had troubles using thick photo quality paper in the HP 1220 (big/expensive) and other inconveniences, so I traded it to a friend for use with his peecee and he bought me a new Epson Stylus C80.
