You'll need to setup the Airport Base Station with your iBook. Your
iMac doesn't have an Airport card, right?

You'll either need to wire your iMac into your ethernet network, or
buy an Airport card for your iMac.

If you want to wire it in, you may also need to buy a hub. A hub is
just a little box with a collection of ethernet plugs on it.
Anything that's plugged into it can talk to all of the other things
plugged into it.

You'll also need enough ethernet cables. One for each: iMac, Airport
Base Station, and cable modem.

You just want straight through cables, don't bother with Cross-over
ones in your setup. But make sure to get a hub with an uplink port
because your cable modem might need to be plugged into that port.
Some have a switch on them so you can toggle one port between normal
and uplink mode, others just have two plugs for one of the ports.

If you add an Airport card to your iMac, you don't have to worry
about all that hub/cable stuff..as long as the Airport Base Station
and the cable modem see each other (an LED should come on when they
do.)

Thanks. I'll price out difference between another airport card for my imac
and an ethernet hub and cables. If the price is within $20 or so, I'm
inclined toward the card because I have too many cables around already. Of
course, now i'm sorry I didn't simply try to do a two-card system and save
$100, too.
