We had a similar problem last night with deleting a program installed on the HD. We found the solution at the following address: http://kbase.info.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/kbase.woa/28/wa/query?searchM ode=Expert&type=id&val=KC.106290 This gives you the direction for enabling root user on your computer.
