Was mucking around and making some adjustments as to the location of my
iMac the other day
and was just a mite concerned that to me the pair of USB female
connections on my iMac
appeared to be loose.
Now they do work just fine however was wondering if this type of connector
can be "tightened" (for lack of a better term) to hold male connectors
inserted more securely?

And do the connectors deteriorate with age?

Part of my own problem even after purchasing a proper- all- connectors
powered USB hub
I still find I have to unplug one connector, usually the printer lead
to ensure myCanon 660U flatbed scanner works properly.

For some darn reason the flatbed scanner simply does not want
to be powered through an outboard, and yes fully powered hub.

In retrospect the scanner is used infrequently so have put aside the
powered hun in favour of switching plugs.

However I still wonder about the connectors.

Anybody else?
