I did the above and
it worked, but it only gave me a very few options for "plain Text"
fonts: about 5 of them (Arial or Comic Sans, both of which I like a
lot not included).  for Web Page Fonts, I have the choice of all the
fonts in the system!  Maybe that explains why everything but the
message part of my email has never changed from comic sans (????). 
Anyway, my email messages now show up as Lucinda Sans, which is
better but still not what I want (arial or comic sans).Also, I just
remembered that awhile ago I changed a Yahoo setting because replying
to messages from this group would not successfully go through. When I
hit reply, the new screen showed a vertical blue line to the left of
the text message.  I think i disabled the "allow HTML tags" or
something like that and then the replies worked OK.  I can't remember
if the changes in the text happened at the same time or not (I don't
think so, but my memory has more than its share of black holes, so
... ).
