If i remember correctly, (my iMac is at work):
1. Put a blank CD R disk in the iMac.
2. Wait until the icon of the blank CD R appears on the desktop
3. Locate the files that you want to burn onto the CD.
4. Drag these files onto the CD icon
5. There is a menu option,
     while in the finder,
     that says BURN CD.
     Select that.
     (sorry, i do not remember exactly
     where that BURN CD item is located.)

If all else fails:
Either read the manual;
or use the HELP that you will find in the finder.

(Which iMac do you have?)
