Here's the problem from the beginning as retold by a friend of mine (and it is frightening): The original problem-not always waking up after going to sleep (ie screen stayed dark "). Real problem developed while using Itunes copying the songs from a Cd to Itunes. I heard a tone and found a message saying something had occurred (noting my harddrive's name) and some information was lost. My itunes showed it had copied 1 song. A 2nd attempt was similar but my computer stopped after 6 songs, and displayed a short message box with nothing in it, that sometimes would be followed by the previous message stating some information lost. Subsequent attempts allowed less and less access as I desperately attempted to trash the new music. I then attempted to start up the computer after it had been disconnected from power all night. Powered up normal until I attempted an entry and it froze up and went into some sounds that was similar to a marble rolling around in a cup and then dropped into another, then some sounds similar to a small relay clicking. So that is my friend's problem. Does anyone know what is going on? Does this mean my hard drive is dead? I also have an imac DV SE that I got at the same time as he did, and I abuse mine much more than he does, should I be worried about mine dying? Guavachild p.s. I once wrote in about whether or not anyone knew how to capture sound clips from DVD's; a couple of people wrote me directly that they also wanted to know how to do this, but no one wrote in knowing how to do this... still no ideas? -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
