Here's a poser... I'm still on the iMac Rev. D 333, OS 9.2 with 384Mb RAM...
For the last month or so, when I sign on with the AOL browser and go surfing
the Internet, my password fields are no longer "hidden" with bullets. Say, I
go into a website, enter my user name and password; instead of a row of
bullets, the password types quite legibly in my regular system font. I've
tested my other browsers, and they "hide" the password fields as they
should---only the AOL browser is showing the passwords. When I asked AOL
about this, they mumbled and stammered and suggested that the "other
websites" were using a different encryption protocol from AOL's. But I don't
buy that explanation, especially since Netscape Communicator and the
stand-alone Internet Explorer are still handling the password fields just
fine. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled AOL, and I THINK I've scoured
every corner of AOL preferences for the password preference switch. To no
avail. Anyone else run into this problem with AOL on the iMac?
