The easy part is recording them onto CD. The hard part is getting them into the machine in the first place. The only way I know to do that is to scan each page, then run them through some kind of text-conversion software. It will take perhaps a minute to scan each page at high quality, and perhaps five or ten minutes to proof the result, since unless the software has come to life in the last few years, there *will* be a lot of errors. A much simpler alternative, if you don't want *arbitrary* books on CD but are simply looking for good reading material, would be to download books from Project Gutenberg , http://www.gutenberg.org/. You used to be able to get them on CD from Walnut Creek, but they seem to have gone the way of all flesh. Hopefully you have a high-speed connection, and please consider a small donation to the project if you find it useful. I see that someone I'm not familiar with (http://www.techass.com/guten) has a 4-CD set. In fact, I might get one myself....
