Is that correct? I thought I had read that the "Library" > folder in the system folder is the same on all machines, the "core > system." The only difference is the User area, right? Another alternative (if you've got a USB drive enclosure) is to just install X fresh on the new drive, and then just drag documents and 3rd-party apps back onto your new drive, one or two at a time. Yes, before you get under way, you'll need to create an 8 MB (or smaller, but I wouldn't) partition before you begin to install. Don't obsess over it though; if you forget, the installer won't. It won't let you install X on a partition that's not entirely within the first 8 MB. Also, you might think that 8 MB is big, but I'd recommend that if a 3rd-party application doesn't absolutely need to be on the boot partition, you strongly consider putting it on the other partition -- documents, too. I wouldn't have believed it two months ago, but there's already close to 6 MB of stuff on my boot partition (over 300,000 individual files!). I still remember the Apple ][ days, when you could look at a catalog's contents and tell if a "stranger" had appeared, or a file had somehow gone missing... John at Wood-n-Shavings, Inc.
