Well, resetting broadband connections (DSL, cable modem) is 
relatively common in my experience.  Once a day does sound like a 
lot.  I have a cable modem at home and I have to reset it one once or 
twice a month.

I don't really know what you mean by 2 cards.  2 Airport cards?

Have you tried updating the software on the iMac to the latest 
version?  (MacOS and Airport software)  Is your iMac's TCP/IP set to 
load only when needed?  (TCP/IP control panel:Edit:User Mode set to 
Admin then click on the options button in the control panel window.) 
I'd uncheck that box.
