My Mom has a Blue iMac, Slot loading DVD/CD, 350Mhz, Mac OS 9.1...with a modem that is not working (power fluctuation - I have not had a look at her computer as yet, could be corrupt prefs...???...she's 100+ miles from me). My brother has a DV iMac (grey transparent slot loading DVD/CD), his modem died also (lightning - not sure which route he took to fix it, if he has (he's 300+ miles from me)).
After spending several hours looking around on the net, for my brother's computer problem a few weeks ago, I didn't really find any "good" solutions to his problem other than spending an arm and a leg (compared to a PC modem) for a USB external or replacement of the internal modem. My Mom's modem died today... Do any of you have any good sources for iMac modem replacements, internal or external...or other....? I have a B&W G3/400 with an internal modem that is not used, would this modem work in my Mother's computer???
