Hi Jim-- > I am using 9.1. That alone could explain the difference between what > you have and what I have.
You seem to be correct. I am using OS 9.1 and can not find the settings Mary spoke about either, so I checked around in my system for you. Important Point: I have never set up a keychain on this computer! Nevertheless it asks for a password to "unlock" a keychain when I open the Keychain Access Control Panel. The settings appear to come form the initial setup on my Mac (Mac OS Setup Assistant) in my case. When I ran Setup Assistant again it gathered the computer's information and displayed it step by step to allow me to change it. When I arrived on the Name and Organization field and Computer Name and Password field the information matched that which seemed to unlock the magical keychain. The password field was not readable (meaning it was showing only the "" (option 8) in place of actual characters), but I was able to determine the password form the number of characters shown. If someone knows where this information is stored maybe they can tell you what to trash or alter to allow you access. Sorry I could not be of more assistance.
